Judo clubs
Websites for judo clubs in Lancashire
Judo clubs are usually run by people who’d rather be on the mat than messing about with websites. Fair enough. The trouble is most judo club websites look like they were built in 2008 and never touched again, and that’s the first thing a parent sees.
I build sites that take the website job off your hands and quietly bring more juniors and adult beginners through the door.
I’m TJ. I’m based in Mellor Brook, near Blackburn. I trained for 12 years across martial arts before I started building websites for combat sports gyms. I’ll come to your club and build you something that does the recruiting for you.
The problem
What most judo club websites get wrong
- They look like a parish council site from 2010.
- Junior classes are the main draw, but the homepage talks about the club’s grading record from 1997.
- Randori nights aren’t mentioned, so visiting players don’t know they’re welcome.
- BJA affiliation isn’t called out, which is a trust signal a lot of parents look for.
- The trial process is “turn up at 6.30 on a Wednesday”, which is fine for adults but kills 50% of parent enquiries.
What you need
What a good judo club website needs
- A juniors page that speaks to parents. Safety, kit, first night, etiquette, fees.
- An adults page with a different tone — beginners welcome, recreational vs competitive routes.
- A grading section with kyu and dan progression and what’s tested at each level.
- Randori nights clearly listed, with notes on which clubs are welcome to visit.
- BJA affiliation displayed visibly. It’s free trust.
- Coach bios with dan grade and any coaching qualifications.
- A simple trial enquiry route, mobile-first.
- Local SEO so “judo club Blackburn” or “kids judo Preston” lands you in the map pack.
Scope
How I scope the project
Judo club websites are scoped around what the club actually needs.
A small club might need a simple site that explains juniors, adults, first sessions, fees and contact details clearly. A larger club might need more detail around gradings, randori nights, coach bios, affiliations and local SEO.
I’ll talk through what is missing, what is confusing visitors and what needs sorting first.
Then I’ll give you a clear proposal before the work starts. No inflated agency package. No vague extras.
