Burnley has plenty of proper gyms. Boxing, kickboxing, BJJ, Muay Thai, MMA, kids’ classes, fitness sessions. The problem is that a lot of gym websites make all of that harder to understand than it needs to be.
I build websites that make the next step obvious.
I’m TJ from DojoSites Lancashire. I’m based near Blackburn, about 20 minutes down the M65 from Burnley. I trained for 12 years before I started building websites for gyms, so I know the difference between a site that looks decent and a site that gets people to book a trial.
The problem
Your website should answer the first-session questions
Burnley gyms often pull people from nearby towns too — Padiham, Brierfield, Nelson, Hapton, Worsthorne and the villages around them. Those people might already know your name. They might have seen a class on Instagram. They might have heard about you from someone at work.
Then they search. Your website has to make it clear where you are, who the classes are for and whether someone can book a trial before they lose nerve and keep scrolling.
Most people who land on a gym website are not ready to walk in yet. They want to know which class is right for a beginner, whether kids can join, what happens on the first session, what they need to wear and whether they need to book first.
What I build
What I build for Burnley gyms and clubs
I work with WordPress, Shopify and Wix websites. Sometimes that means a new site. Sometimes it means fixing the one you already have so it finally does its job. For Burnley gyms, I usually look at:
- Whether the homepage makes the trial route obvious
- Whether beginners can tell which class to try first
- Whether parents can find kids’ class information quickly
- Whether the timetable works on a phone
- Whether nearby searchers can see where you are and what areas you serve
- Whether the copy sounds like your actual gym, not a template
- Whether the site answers the questions people usually message you about
Site review
Built by someone who understands gyms
I trained for 12 years before building websites for gyms. That changes the questions I ask. I’ll ask how beginners usually start. I’ll ask which class gets the most nervous enquiries. I’ll ask what parents usually worry about before booking kids in.
For Burnley gyms, I can come down for a site review. We’ll look through the website together, talk through what is costing you more enquiries and agree what needs sorting first. No pitch deck. No agency theatre. Just proper notes.
